Regardless of the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of flowering plant varieties across the world and thus an endless array of colors, shapes, and sizes, all flowers seem to work together harmoniously to make gorgeous arrangements as unique as each individual flower. Just as the artwork in your home will affect your mood, your mood will affect how you see any given piece as the seasons and natural lighting changes.Flowers are such a beautiful part of nature and are sure to make anyone smile and daydream of walking through a charming backyard garden or running through a vast bloom-filled field on a sunny summer day. As such, pair vibrant abstract art or other stunning modern pieces with the rustic backdrop of wood paneling and leather couches in the living room to draw the eyes toward your wall art.Īt the end of the day, it’s important that whatever art you choose speaks to you and that it reflects your sense of style and taste. That’s because, just like Uncle Charlie giving a speech at a wedding, nothing draws attention like a break from the norm. Or go with the power of stunning contrast while leaving concerns about matching colors behind. ![]() Slight glimpses of color or even variations on a certain hue in your wall art can draw the eye to create tonal continuity. While your choice in art or photography can reflect the color scheme of a room in a major way, this is not necessary for visual harmony. The center of one large piece or that of several frames should have its midpoint at eye level. While no advice on art is set in stone, the same effect of larger pieces, however, can be achieved with a series of several smaller framed wall art pieces that come together for a collage effect. Some advise that wall art should be roughly 70% the width of couches or beds it is placed over. Tips for choosing wall art you’ll loveįor showcase pieces, wall art should be sizeable enough-between 2 to 4 feet-to dominate a space and change the mood of a room. And there’s the simplicity of traditional prints with soothing dark warm tones and a defined color palette such as a close up of flowers running white to dark pink on a black background. Or go with the boho style of painting prints featuring an array of colors and textures such as a deer perfectly merged with its natural environment as flowers coat its body and dance from its antlers. Hang a list of herbs done in a classic illustrative style in a sleek black fiberboard frame in the kitchen. Or trace the lines of wall art that enlarges leaves against a beige background for you to contemplate every curve while sipping wine and listening to jazz. Go minimalist with framed wall art highlighting the time-lapse shift in a gleaming white moon against a black background. Really want to showcase your love of architecture, animals or natural landscapes? Create a collage of images that compliment each other with framed picture or poster sets. Go with stunning, industrial photos of the city you call home or showcase several cities you’ve lived in or visited with framed black and white aerial maps. Or remind yourself of times spent down the shore by putting the view from a sandy beach in your living room. You can pair the rustic feel of woodland scenes or a path through a country wheat field with the modern look of black or gray aluminum frames. Choose the look of your picture by either having the frame visible or folding the canvas around the frame. Art to breathe new life into your wallsįrom modern art to stunning nature scenes to your own personal collages, there are a lot of options in what you can put in a stylish frame to transform any room. Put your sense of style on display by matching various frame types in different colors with the artwork, photography or textile work you’d like to showcase. Enough Spider-People to create a Spider-Army, to be precise. Partial inspiration for Into The Spider-Verse, this huge story featured as many versions of Spider-Man as legally possible. However, this all changed with the Spider-Verse comic book event. They’ve stayed in isolation from each other and rarely crossed over. Some have been clones, while others originate from another universe. The Best Marvel Movies: Every MCU fi.Throughout the years, there have been heaps of different versions of Spider-Man.Into The Spider-Verse: Spider-Woman (TBC).Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two) (2023).Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) (October 2022).Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).But if you absolutely must spend every last drop of web fluid watching Spider-Man related films… this is it. Though details aren’t yet clear, there’s a belief that, with Spider-Man’s MCU obligations apparently wrapped up, Sony is now looking to build out its own interconnected Spider-Man universe, pulling all these strands together. And so you have the superb Into The Spider-Verse animated film (which you should 100% absolutely not miss) and its upcoming sequel, and a whole slew of related villain movies in the works, such as the Venom franchise. What this has also allowed, however, is Sony to spin the character off in other directions not (at least immediately) connected to the MCU. It’s why it took so long for Spider-Man to join the MCU, as it took years before an agreement was made to have the character appear in 2016’s Civil War and ongoing adventures thereafter. Despite Disney owning Marvel, it’s actually Sony that holds the rights to the Spider-Man character, thanks to an ongoing deal with the Marvel company in its earlier iteration as an independent publisher. (Image credit: Sony Pictures / Marvel) Spider-Man movies in order: the complete experienceĪnd now, the ultimate combination of everything Spider-Man! Some background first – Spider-Man’s place in cinema is a confusing one, largely because of all the deals in place surrounding the character’s appearances on screen. Probably not best suited to a first viewing though, but here we go! It’s not a perfect science, but it’s an interesting alternative way to watch the films if you want to more closely mirror the comic book arcs. Both Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man crushes jump straight to Mary Jane – but Tom Holland’s films skip the origin story of spider-bite and uncle death, so Tobey Maguire’s films would come before them. Different films take different elements of these early stories, tweaking them as they go along, but you can… roughly… chart a course through each variation of Spider-Man that more or less walks the steps laid out by this original comic incarnation.įor instance, Peter Parker was in love with Gwen Stacey before he fell for MJ, and so Andrew Garfield’s films, by that metric, come first. It’s here where the classic arc was born – bitten by the radioactive spider, sees his beloved uncle Ben die, falls for Mary Jane, and so on. There’s the ‘Ultimate’ universe Spider-Man, multiple different Earth versions (Earth-9500, Earth-982, etc etc), and the Earth-616 universe where he first appeared from the minds of creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.Įarth-616 then is kind of seen as the ‘core’ Spider-Man experience that many of the films ultimately draw their inspiration from. Just as Spider-Man has existed in multiple forms on screen, so too has he in the Marvel comics he came from. OK, now we’re really getting into the nitty gritty of things, and where some comic book nerdery comes into play. (Image credit: Sony) Spider-Man movies in chronological order At the very least, these are the essential MCU films to include if you want the full Tom-Holland-as-Peter-Parker story, and how they also relate to the early Spider-folk. You could argue you should watch all the MCU Marvel movies in order for the full experience, but we’ll leave that for another day. So to get the full picture of how Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has grown into the hero we now know and love, you’ve got to watch at least a few more MCU films, too. ![]() Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films pour into this mixture and, thanks to the events of No Way Home, have ultimately drawn the Maguire and Garfield Spider-Men into this overarching MCU storyline, too. Modern Marvel movies, aka the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka the MCU, are in part so successful and popular because they weave multiple characters together to create a much larger overall story. With its lighthearted but spooky theme, fun shots, and deep ruleset by Ben Heck, America’s Most Haunted is well-deserving of its spot on this list on its gameplay merits alone. America’s Most Haunted (Spooky Pinball, 2014) It remains one of the most sought-after pinball machines of all time and enshrined designer Pat Lawlor in pinball’s proverbial hall of fame. With toys and artwork to reference multiple episodes of the classic black & white TV series, this non-traditional playfield layout will have you shooting all over the place and it even features flipperless flipping using magnets on the upper playfield. And although it isn’t cheap by any means, it is one of the lower cost DMD (Dot Matrix Display) machines in the collector market, and therefore a good entry point for a horror fan looking to get into the hobby. Fans of the movies will be thrilled with the clawed ball save, four-ball multiball, and voice effects from Freddy himself, Robert Englund. This pinball machine from Gottlieb has everything you’d expect on a Freddy Krueger pinball table: a giant disfigured Freddy face, a fiery furnace, and clawed fingers are all on full display. Freddy: A Nightmare on Elm Street (Gottlieb/Premier, 1994) “Gorgar speaks!” and “Me got you!” certainly added to the creep factor of a game that features what appears to be Satanic ritual sacrifice on its backglass. Sure, its vocabulary was limited to seven words, but sound designer Eugene Jarvis (who would later design the arcade classic Defender and is currently the boss over at arcade manufacturer Raw Thrills) and programmer Paul Dussault made use of every one of them. However, back in the day, this devilish game was cutting edge and holds the honor of being the first pinball game with digitized speech. Made in 1979, Gorgar’s technology may seem primitive to us now. Despite that, they’d still be great in any collection. All of these are fun, but due to one reason or another (I’m looking at you Tales From the Crypt with your annoying cackling) they just don’t hold up to the rest as far as historical impact or in-your-face fun. ![]() Honorable Mentions: Class of 1812, Alice Cooper’s Nightmare Castle, Elvira and the Party Monsters, and Tales From the Crypt. ![]() Here’s the definitive list of the 11 best pinball games to play in the dark. We started off with Hackpad and used that for years, and tried moving to Dropbox Paper when Hackpad was end-of-lifed. Hence the modern office formats, tolerably doing a huge spectrum of things, none of them brilliantly, and hopelessly complicated. They'd rather bend an existing tool, because how hard it is to add spans of colored text? or collapsed sections? It's, like, a hundred lines of code! Many of them would consider having two tools for these jobs superfluous, especially if paid. The funny thing is, the same people periodically need one tool and the other, and even want to mix them. A format that makes one of these easy adds complications and edge cases to the other. These two camps command different design goals. Other want to print centered headers on level 1, and left-aligned for level 2, and body text with a particular font, with fragments in a different color, and pictures with text flowing around them, etc. Some want rendering-agnostic structure, like Wiki / Markdown / Org mode, that emphasizes structure and text, with things like links, tags, etc. One of the problems is that people want different things from a "simple document format". Sure it transparently to that in the background, but I shouldn't have to worry about it. Not use asterisks everytime whenever I want to make something bold. The tool removes all unwanted facial hair (Her grandmother had bought it for her at CVS, but you may have seen an infomercial about this product.) When I saw the tool on sale at Ulta, I decided that was the day to try my shaving experiment. A friend recommended the Finishing Touch Flawless, an electric facial hair remover, which she uses to remove stray hairs on her upper lip and below her eyebrows. One day, I had a brilliant idea: I’ll shave my face to eliminate the peach fuzz-one less variable. In fact, a lot of liquid and powder makeup emphasizes texture issues because, well, you’re adding more textures to your skin with each layer. I typically wear a medium-to-full coverage foundation to give me an even skin tone, but bumps, dry patches, and fine hair can’t be masked simply with foundation. Between that, occasional dry and flaky skin, and light blond peach fuzz, texture is one of my main skin concerns. When I was in high school, I had cystic acne, which left my skin with some pitting from the scars. In my case, I’m a 20-something woman with a passion for skincare, and my experimentation came from a desire to improve my skin’s texture. To be clear, plenty of women shave their faces for a number of reasons. This whole thing all started when I decided to shave my face. |
